How to climb the knowledge ladder

1) Become interested in something.

2) Realize that most interesting things are important.

3) Make an effort to understand the interesting thing to the greatest possible depth.

4) Integrate understanding with the understanding of other interesting things previously investigated.

5) Repeat.

Feeling your noggin expand upon getting new data is a good feeling, but lately I realize that it doesn't feel nearly as good as the more primal things.

Laying down the dohlz-chuhetz, sex, sleep, etc. These are all things which really butter me up on the inside.

Also I often think about the value of trying to absorb lots of data. Since I believe reality is just a big goo ball anyway, I don't really see the point in learning the rules beyond a certain point, because I don't think I will ever make a mental breakthrough into the next realm… assuming one even exists.

I suppose, optimally, you need a mix of worldly and intellectual pleasures to keep yourself on the serious 3.5% percent tip.
